A 10-member delegation representing U.S. cotton producers, ginners, merchants and warehousemen participated in the 2006 China Leadership Exchange Program established by the National Cotton Council along with the China Cotton Association. John Pucheu, a California producer who took part in the tour explains the goal of the visit.
Pucheu says the group learned about China’s policy on cotton production, standards and import policy, as well as factors affecting U.S. cotton’s competitiveness in the Chinese market.
Pucheu believes China is integral to the future success of the U.S. cotton industry.
