MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The National Cotton Council commends Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee Ranking Member John Boozman for releasing a Farm Bill framework that significantly boosts the safety net for production agriculture. Now that two Senate proposals have been released – and a strong Farm Bill has passed the House Agriculture Committee with bipartisan support – the NCC urges all parties to work together to ensure a final Farm Bill is enacted in the coming months. Many segments of our industry are struggling as they weather high production costs and uncertain global demand. Simply put, farmers need assistance this year; and an extension of current law is not acceptable.
